This Course will introduce the student to Design Management and Quality Control issues and the importance they play in the design process.

This is achieved through identifying the stages in the design process and developing the appropriate quality control strategies to ensure smooth progression and delivery.

Topics include: Design Management what is the designers role, how does it assist the process, design management principles; Assessment of skills within a studio: SWOT Analysis of your organisation, making assessments, outsourcing verses in-house; Identifying the Stages: Do they vary due to end product; Stage One Investigation, analysis and strategic recommendations;

Stage Two: Development; Stage Three: Production, Checks and balances; Stage Four Delivery/ Launch; Stage Five Implementation; Discussion of management of research and development, planning models and design project co-ordination models; Assessing appropriate quality controls; Implementation of Quality Controls; Assessing Success of project co-ordination models and quality controls.
